House Foods Corporation traces its roots back to 1913, when the founder, Seisuke Urakami, established an herbal medicine enterprise called Urakami Shoten in Osaka. In 1926, the company acquired the operations of a curry factory and began its manufacturing business.

Our company has always tried to get to know its customers in order to understand what they really want, and through our products we have worked hard to obtain their trust.

By always providing products and services that are appreciated for their value, House Foods contributes to improvements in everyday diet and health. Our goal is to be recognized as the company that lives up to its corporate philosophy, “Bringing greater joy to families through our foods.” Family structures may change over the years, and dietary habits and preferences may evolve in different directions, but our aim remains the same - to give our many customers opportunities to enjoy “taste and comfort” in a variety of settings, for their greater happiness in life.

This is why we always try to stand in our customers’ shoes, to see things from their perspective. Our management approach targets customer satisfaction, so we put product safety and quality first. The result is customer confidence and trust.

Our medium-term plans are concrete programs inspired by our corporate philosophy. Our third such plan, launched in April 2009 and covering three years, aims to expand and enhance areas where we can serve more customers in the future. This fiscal year is the last one in the current plan and we are working toward achievement of each objective, as a company that “brings greater joy to families”.

Our core products, especially curries, stews, spices and retort pouched foods, are attracting even greater attention for their new and added value, helping us create new demand. In our health food business, we are implementing bold product strategies and developing further growth potential, taking advantage of our own technical strengths and combined efforts with House Wellness Foods Corporation. As part of our international business, we will promote tofu business even more in the United States, where health consciousness is especially high, and will strive to boost to higher levels our distribution of Japanese-style curry dishes in East Asia, especially China.

At the same time, as a socially responsible corporation we maintain high standards for corporate governance, compliance, internal controls and environmental protection, and we will keep strengthening our quality control systems to ensure product safety and reliability.
